Our Commitment
Even when communities are struck down, we see how people survive, fight back and grow. From China and Cambodia, to Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, we have witnessed the indomitable human spirit – the pure determination to come out of any tragedy stronger and unconquered.
Mercy Relief supports that spirit. We help one another and protect each other’s way of life. We believe empowered communities will change their destinies.
Code of Conduct
In order to maintain high standards in providing aid, Mercy Relief is committed to the following codes of conduct. All our stakeholders, including our staff, volunteers and partner organisations must subscribe and adhere to these conducts when they represent Mercy Relief in one form or another.
The SPHERE Standards in Humanitarian Aid
Mercy Relief voluntarily commits to the SPHERE standards in Humanitarian Aid, where it applies, in our areas of work. This in line with supporting the Sphere vision in which all people affected by disaster or conflict are able to re-establish their lives and recover their livelihoods in ways that respect and promote their dignity.
Sustainable Development Goals
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the world’s best plan to build a better world for people and our planet by 2030. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the SDGs are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the environment. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, equality and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and working to preserve our ocean and forests.
Mercy Relief supports the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where it applies, in our areas of work, to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
CORE Humanitarian Standard
The Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) sets out Nine Commitments that organisations and individuals involved in humanitarian response can use to improve the quality and effectiveness of the assistance they provide. It also facilitates greater accountability to communities and people affected by crisis: knowing what humanitarian organisations have committed to will enable them to hold those organisations to account.
ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management – Civil Society Organisation Partnership (ACDM – CSO)
Mercy Relief represents Singapore in a collective of ASEAN-born institutions dedicated to responding to disasters in a collaborative response when calamity hits the region. This collective adheres to the principles and objectives set out by the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER). All in effort to support people-centered communities by harnessing the deepening regional cooperation on disaster management.
