Widespread flooding struck eastern and central Aceh and parts of North Sumatra in late December 2006, claiming 47 lives. The floods damaged 757 villages, affecting over 500,000 people.

How we helped:

  • Mercy Relief’s team of medical volunteers
    • Conducted an assessment to determine needs on the ground
    • Provided medical assessments for 600 patients/day
  • Provided emergency supplies including medicines and 40 water filter membranes. We also distributed tents, blankets and hygiene packs worth more than S$30,000 to 300 beneficiaries.
