Academic Training Courses

Mercy Relief's (MR) aim to equip and groom young humanitarians for regional challenges came to fruition when Diploma-Plus Certificate Programme in Humanitarian Affairs was introduced at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) in September 2010. Conceived by Mercy Relief two years ago as a viable mean to address its and the humanitarian sectors longer-term human resource requirements, the elective course was developed by MR and SP to provide an Asian-centered perspective on the scope and mechanics of humanitarian work in the current globalised era. The integrated programme that emphasizes emergency and disaster management, development work and the administrative rigour behind stakeholders management would acquaint keen students to, and equip them with, the principles and philosophies of the humanitarian sector.

It is currently developing a practical certificate for working adults targeting personnel from relevant bodies inter alia the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), other NGOs and corporations whose CSR focus are humanitarian.
