GLOBAL CHALLENGES

While economic growth and development have brought many benefits for the people of Asia, many still live in extreme poverty, suffer from lack of shelters, safe drinking water and proper sanitation, denied access to primary education, basic health care, and the opportunity to learn and gain meaningful employment.

Every year man-made conflicts and natural disasters devastate countless innocent lives. Natural disasters are responsible for the overwhelming majority of people affected by all disasters, and certain segments of society, including the poor, women and children, are especially vulnerable to these disasters.

International development and relief has a crucial role to play in supporting the impoverished and disadvantaged to overcome these enormous challenges, and Mercy Relief is committed to continue its part in this global effort.
